Juki's new hot and cold spot bonding machine uses both heated and cooled plates on a post-bed to fuse sealing tape to fabric. The material passes through the hot plate heating up the specialised tape, bonding it to the material. It is then passes uunder the cold plate stright after which rapidly cools the tape and solidifies the bond. This bonded tap can be applied over traditional sewn seams to make them water proof and it can also be used as a point of difference in the design of apparel.
